- W3171291656 abstract "In the past few years, several conventional neuroinflammation-mediated epilepsy models have been modified to correlate the same with the actual clinical pathophysiological pattern. These models are being used for the screening of new antiseizure drugs as well as for the evaluation of associated cell-signaling events. Considering these applications, in this chapter, we describe a novel method for the screening of antiseizure molecules using an in vitro model based on neuronal inflammation in mouse hippocampal (HT22) cells. Based on our previous in vivo work, we propose the use of lipopolysaccharide as an inflammatory trigger with conventional pilocarpine model of seizures. Combination of these two can also help in the elucidation of the cell-signaling pathways associated with antiseizure drug response or non-response. Herein, we not only provide a guideline for the application of these studies for screening of potential drug candidates but also suggest the other possible modifications of our approach for the development of new in vitro and etiologically relevant models to study the same. The use of these models, along with the reported ones, may open new avenues for other neuro-researchers by providing a future scope for investigation of various cell-signaling events associated with inflammation and epilepsy in the in vitro setup." @default.
