- W3172605430 abstract "Classical genetics is often complicated for the students to immediately comprehend. Extra efforts in understanding concepts are needed. Nowadays, different learning materials have been continuously adapted in many parts of the world in order to achieve a better learning environment over traditional classroom setting. This study aimed to develop and evaluate an Interactive Learning Module (ILM) on “Classical Genetics”. The study was conducted last March 3, 2014 at the computer laboratory of Maquiling School, Inc. One section of Grade Eight students was selected as the respondents for this study. A 30-minute ILM was developed through a licensed Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 software and was saved on their computer prior to the date of the study. A pretest and a posttest were given before and after the usage of the ILM, respectively. The knowledge gained by the students was computed using the difference between the pretest and posttest scores. From the one-tailed t test, results showed that at 5% level of significance, the ILM was effective since the computed t value (4.7029) was significantly higher than the critical t value (1.714). An evaluation form was also given to assess the effectiveness of the module. The ILM was evaluated using a five-point Likert Scale with the following criteria: Accessibility, Attainment of the Module’s Objectives, Appearance and Animations, Content, and Over-all Evaluation. The students’ average evaluation ranged from 3.67 to 4.75 which implies that the developed ILM was relatively good. Based from these results, it can be concluded that the developed ILM was successful as a material in teaching “Classical Genetics”. Recommendations such as the use of videos were made for further improvement of the ILM." @default.
