- W3173781978 abstract "The nasal cavity offers several advantages over the conventional and other transmucosal routes of administration and has demonstrated many-fold improvement in therapeutic efficacy and bioavailability of drugs. A vast types of neurotherapeutics can be effectively delivered to the brain by utilizing the nasal route. Such therapeutics include both small drugs and large macromolecules, either of hydrophilic or lipophilic nature. Since the intranasal (IN) delivery offers a unique connection between the nasal cavity and the brain, bypassing the blood-brain barrier (BBB), it has emerged as a promising alternative to the invasive delivery methods like intracerebroventricular or intraparenchymal injections for targeting neurotherapeutics directly to the central nervous system (CNS). Surface engineering of neurotherapeutic-loaded carrier systems added a new facet to direct nose-to-brain delivery and made it an excellent platform for brain targeting. Currently, the naso-brain route is being utilized by researchers around the world for further exploration of its potential applications in the core areas of pharmaceutical sciences." @default.
