- W3174162228 abstract "The unprecedented phenomenon in the history of international relations – the exit of one of the most important European country from the EU – requires a pragmatic analysis of British political, historical and cultural realities. As there are practically no functional analogues of this phenomenon in the Russian political culture extralinguistic factors are becoming relevant in translation. The adaptation of new British realities to the Russian culture is carried out on different levels of semiotic asymmetry. The analysis of stylistically coloured Brexit - words reveals national axiological markers, posing difficulties in translation. The choice of translation strategy depends on the intention and political views of the author, communicative effect of the original on the recipients as well as differences in British and Russian political discourse. To avoid inadequate perception of Brexit-pragmatic sphere the translator uses a semantic transformational model which enables to eliminate cultural lacunas by making footnotes and references. Preserving a pragmatic meaning of metaphorical realities requires a removal of cross-cultural barriers with either keeping or eliminating imagery depending on the communication context. Professional presuppositions of the translator enhance the quality of pragmatic adaptation. The adequate translation of Brexit-realities implies an optimal combination of semantic, stylistic and pragmatic factors that help to shape the image of Britain in Europe, its controversial role as a member of the European integration by giving a deeper insight into the culture and mindset of the people of the foggy Albion." @default.
