- W3174788513 abstract "Discharging contaminants into water sources is unpreventable; on the other hand, most industrial water cleaners induce secondary pollution into the environment. Thus, we fabricated an environmentally-friendly, bionanohydrogel bionanocomposite (bio-HNC) as an adsorbent using tragacanth gum (TG) and modified CaCO3 nanoparticles (CC NPs) by ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) for the biosorption of Pb2+ from the water solution. Modifying CC NPs under ultrasound waves resulted in particle size reduction, more homogeneity, and enhanced dispersity into TG. Sonication caused a mesoporous structure for these bio-HNCs. The addition of modified CC NPs to TG improved its removal efficiency. The removal efficiency was 87% (pH = 5, mass = 0.015 g, t=180 min, and Pb2+ conc. = 70 mg L−1). The adsorption study of Pb2+ revealed that sorption behavior is physicochemical. The linear Redlich–Peterson isotherm best matched with the experiment. Besides, phenomenological kinetics were studied, and the results proved that the mechanism follows the film-diffusion step." @default.
