The axial flow maglev blood pump has become the core in research for mechanical circulatory devices owing to its compact size, low thrombosis and low hemolysis. This review provides a scientific basis for introducing the Magnetic Levitation (Maglev) technology used in VADs and effective speed control through sensors as well as algorithmic approach used.
