- W3176723663 abstract "1569 Objectives: To evaluate the utility of F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) PET/multiple b-values diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in assessing epileptogenic lesions in patients without apparent changes on conventional MRI.METHODS: The sample group consisted of 30 patients with suspicious diagnosis of mesial temporal sclerosis and focal cortical dysplasia. All patients underwent brain 18F-FDG PET/ multiple b-values (0-5000 s/mm2) DWI using a trimodality PET/computed tomography-MRI system. The PET and DWI data were fused and analyzed on the workstation, and compared to the clinical data. Results: All patients had decreased 18F-FDG uptake in the epileptogenic zone showed by video-electroencephalography (VEEG). Multiple b-values DWI had abnormal signal intensity at the corresponding area, and markedly when b value was on 3000 s/mm2 in suspicious mesial temporal sclerosis. While for the suspicious focal cortical dysplasia patients, the abnormal signal intensity was showed by different b values, i.e., abnormal signal intensity in the cortex on low b values (<1000 s/mm2) and abnormal signal intensity in the white matter on high b values (≥1000 s/mm2). Conclusions: 18F-FDG PET/ multiple b-values DWI may be a useful method for detecting epileptogenic lesions in patients without apparent changes on conventional MRI." @default.
