EnglishThe objective of this article is to explore the long-term relationship between insecurity, trade openness, inequality and poverty among the 32 states of Mexico. To do so, it was reviewed the information provided by public and private organizations from 2008 to 2018, considering the in-clusion of a categorical variable that locates the state border with an international border. A mul-tivariate least squares analysis was used to identify a series of equations that would serve to project state insecurity, both in terms of homicide and car theft. As a result of the information and analysis carried out, it was confirmed the hypothesis that the theft of insured vehicles in Mexico is related to poverty, since this factor was identified in the three territorial components as significant. Regarding the other relationships studied, between homicides, trade openness, poverty and inequality, no consistent significant relationships were found in the three regions analyzed (north, center and south), confirming the regional diversity of Mexico." @default.
