- W317868181 abstract "Higher education from Romania passes an authentically crisis caused by the necessity of our society to adapt at European Union’ demands. Once with accession to the European Union, new requirements related to higher education system must be respected and promoted. Emphasis should be put on authentically values, such as perseverance, consistency, tolerance, mutual respect, desire to be efficient, acceptance of otherness so on. These things imply that university teachers and not only, to possess multiple competencies enabling to promote among undergraduates students scientific information, moral values, intercultural communication which leads to performance and progress for everyone involves in higher education system. But it is extremely difficult for an university teacher to achieve these goals if the higher education system focuses especially on research competence, neglecting the others which are extremely important too. In order to offer a professional training to the university teachers in terms of values, skills and knowledge which distinguish them, in pedagogic literature there are two models: first, the humanist emphasis on the full development of personality of the future educator, aiming to cultivate the spirit and being more interested in gaining specific skills. Second, the technicist, pragmatic, focuses on the acquisition of techniques, algorithms, rules of teaching with immediate practical relevance. In this article we will try to discover what competencies have to be formed and developed on university teachers in order to be performing, competitive, but, in the same time, to transform them students in competitive ones and desired on the labor market." @default.
