- W3178707749 abstract "PURPOSE: To observe the effects of an 8-week resistance training on eating attitude and body fat of female college students, and study the difference between morning exercise group and evening exercise group. METHODS: 60 healthy female college students were recruited in classroom. They were randomly divided into 3 groups: morning (n = 20), evening(n = 20) and control group(n = 20). Subjects of morning and evening group had an 8-week resistance training, 3 times/week, 45 minutes/time. Training time of day: morning group: 1.5 hours after waken up; evening group: 9.5 hours after waken up. During the intervention, all subjects maintained their daily diet and physical activity. Their height was measured twice with a height meter, body composition was measured by DXA, and eating attitude was measured The Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26), before and after the intervention. The operation was done by the same person, and all the statistics were done with SPSS19.0. RESULTS: (1) There were no significant difference in age, BMI, body fat, fat% and EAT-26 scores between the 3 groups before the intervention. (2) After the intervention, the EAT-26 scores were significantly decreased in the morning group (6.8 ± 2.5 VS 5.7 ± 2.0, p < 0.05) and the evening group (7.0 ± 3.4 VS 5.9 ± 3.3, p < 0.05), but not the control group. (3) After the intervention, the Fat% were significantly decreased in the morning group (28.62% ± 2.75% VS 27.72% ± 2.52%, p < 0.05) and the evening group (28.18% ± 3.21% VS 27.31% ± 2.94%, p < 0.05), but not the control group. (4) There was no significant difference in the changes of EAT-26 scores and the Fat% between the morning and the evening group. CONCLUSION: An 8-week resistance training can reduce the Fat% and EAT-26 scores of female college students, but there are no significant differences between morning and evening exercise.
