- W3179928392 abstract "Fragment projection resulting from the rupture of equipment items may generate severe consequences and trigger domino effects. This kind of scenario is characterized by complex mechanisms involving three main phases: fragment formation, fragment ejection and flight, and damage from fragment impact on a target. This chapter describes the details of these three steps of the fragment projection scenario, and presents the approaches currently available to model each one of them, with the final aim of assessing domino effect. Strengths and limitations of such models are highlighted and discussed. A case study is also introduced with the aim of illustrating how domino effects triggered by fragment projection is assessed in a realistic situation." @default.
