- W3183286317 abstract "The paper, based on the experiences of Centre of excellence for renewable energy sources from Straubing, Germany, and its unit Centre for Technological Development, TFZ, presents status and prospects of solid biomass utilization as a fuel in Germany. The activities of TFZ are presented, whereby the importance of biomass facilities exhibition established within the centre is underlined. The state-of-the-art in the field of solid biomass combustion facilities is presented, as well as the prices of fuel and facilities. It is important to note that contemporary solid biomass boilers and stoves fired on wood logs, chips and pellets have efficiency over 85%, which is comparable with boilers fired on heating oil and natural gas. This is also followed by the reduction of emission of pollutants. In the future, focus on short rotation coppices and crop residues is expected. Combustion characteristics of crop residues are much less favourable compared to those of wooden biomass, and future research and development activities should be oriented toward overcoming of this problem. It was concluded that there are possibilities of establishing cooperation with institutions from Vojvodina, i.e. Serbia." @default.
