- W3184672798 abstract "We would like to respond to the Letter to the Editor regarding the published article “Update of the EAU/ESPU guidelines on urinary tract infections in children.” We have read the letter and have concluded that indeed the study “Association of renal scarring with number of febrile urinary tract infections in children” (Shaik N et al. JAMA Pediatr. 2019; 173 (10):949–952)” has been incorrectly cited. We truly regret that this has happened. The published article is a summary of the EAU guidelines and during the shortening of the text it seems that the last part of the cited sentence has accidently been deleted. Unfortunately, this causes a different conclusion. We think the data presented in the paper by Shaik et al. is clinically of high importance and should be presented correctly. We would propose the following corrigendum. Content of the correction: Before: Febrile UTIs have been associated with renal scarring and each new febrile UTI increases the risk of renal scarring by 2.8% (CI 1.2–5.8) [10]. After: Febrile UTIs have been associated with renal scarring and each new febrile UTI increases the risk of renal scarring with 2.8% (CI: 1.2–5.8) after the first febrile UTI, 25.7% (CI: 12.5–43.3) after the second infection and up to 28.6% (CI:8.4–58.1) after 3 or more febrile UTIs [10]. We would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused.
