Nano-particles of Sn 1−x Co x O 2 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.10) were synthesized successfully using co-precipitation method. Utilizing X-ray diffraction, the energy dispersion of the X-ray (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV- double-beam spectrophotometer, the influence of [Co]/[Sn] on the properties of nano-particles was examined. The influences of different Co concentrations are also stated on the optical and magnetic characterization of the nano-particles. XRD analysis shows that the Sn 1−x Co x O 2 nano-particles have a tetragonal polycrystalline structure. Additionally, the crystallite size, D is reduced while the micro-strain, ( e ) increases with enhancement of the incorporation of Co in SnO 2 lattice. The formation of high density defect states and the new phases of Co 2+ and Sn 4+ were accountable for the decrease of the energy optical bandgap E g opt with Co-doping. In addition, the variation values of bandgap E g opt and magnetic measurements of SnO 2 nano-particles doped Co% plays a major role for selective coatings of optoelectronics; use as antireflective coating materials, and fabrication of optoelectronic devices. The measurements of magnetization using vibrating sample magnetometer illustrated a hysteresis loop in Co-doped SnO 2 nano-particles." @default.
