- W3187178544 abstract "A 49-year-old woman underwent laparoscopic salpingo-oophorectomy because of an ovarian cystic-solid tumor. During the surgery, some diffuse brown-black pigments, similar to freckles on face, were noted on the surface of pelvis (Fig. 1A, Supplemental Fig. 1), intestinal tube (Fig. 1B), omentum (Supplemental Fig. 2), mesentery (Supplemental Fig. 3), and diaphragm (Fig. 1C), and enlarged black nodules were found in part of mesentery. Frozen section demonstrated that the enlarged nodules were lymph nodes. Histologic examination revealed that the tumor was a mucinous cystic tumor. The pigments were hemosiderin deposition within macrophages and were noted both in the tumor and lymph nodes (Figs. 2 And 3)，and ?>immunohistochemical Study on HMB-45 and melan-A in these tissues were negative. Our patient had no history of cutaneous or ocular melanotic lesion. The brown-black pigments was consistent with a diagnosis of peritoneal melanosis, which was an unusual condition characterized by either focal or diffuse brown or black pigmentation of the peritoneum. However, the pigments in lymph nodes were reported for the first time, and the origin of the pigments is still obscure. Fig. 2Pigments were observed in the ovary tumor (HE).
