- W3189035305 abstract "A comparative assessment of the prediction capability of transitional turbulence models was carried out in the chord Reynolds number range Rec=2.3×104−2×105 with the NACA 0012 and NACA 4415 airfoils. Four transition models based on the k−ω framework, i.e., the low-Reynolds number correction, Reθ−γ, γ and k−kl−ω were chosen to simulate the flow and aerodynamic characteristics. It is found that the prediction capability of a model is related to the nature of the flow structure and affected by the Rec and angle of attack (AOA). Among all the models, the Reθ−γ model has the best prediction capability and is recommended for low Rec applications such as small wind turbines. The k−kl−ω model has the secondary capability for some Rec and low AOAs. The γ model has a similar frame to the Reθ−γ model but cannot reliably predict the flow at larger AOAs and lower Rec. The low-Reynolds number correction model is not recommended for the low Rec range." @default.
