- W3189882604 abstract "The no-tillage system in straw is widespread in Brazil for grain-producing areas, but its viability for plant cultivation to produce bulbs, tubers, rhizomes and roots needs to be better studied. The objective of this work was to study the viability of the no-tillage system at different times before and after the desiccation of Urochloa brizantha straw for the Allium sativum L. culture. Two experiments were carried out, the first evaluating the desiccation times after the application of organic or mineral fertilizer in the initial development of the garlic and the second, in the field, testing the best planting times of the garlic, after desiccation. In the first experiment, the values of the variables evaluated were similar with the different fertilization and the height and number of leaves of the garlic plants greatest after the desiccation of U. brizantha. In the second experiment, the plant height, number of leaves and the bulb ratio of the garlic were greater when planted ten days after desiccation. The frequency of the weeds was low and bulb ratio of garlic higher with the U. brizantha straw. The no-tillage system, with U. brizantha straw, is viable if this grass is desiccated, at least, ten days before planting the garlic." @default.
