Here, we show that PC can also work as a ligand for targeting cancer cells based on their increased phospholipid metabolism. PC-installed multiarm poly(ethylene glycol)s and polymeric micelles achieved high and rapid internalization in pancreatic cancer cells. This enhanced cellular uptake was drastically reduced when the cells were incubated with excess free PC or at 4 °C, as well as by inhibiting the phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP) on the surface of cancer cells, indicating an energy dependent active transport mediated by PLTP." @default.
