- W3192862764 abstract "Abstract There is a growing public health concern regarding the possibility that occupational and environmental exposure to pesticides can cause transient and permanent changes in the immune system resulting in the onset of serious disorders such as neurodegenerative inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and other inflammatory disorders, as well as conditions related to metabolic syndrome, through the activation of oxidative stress. Nonetheless, most studies on human immunotoxicity lack of information regarding the outcomes in conditions of prolonged exposure at low doses. In the modern toxicological approach, both laboratory and computational studies contribute to health risk assessment. There are numerous data in the literature regarding the negative effects that pesticides have on the immune system. In recent years, omics approaches are proving useful tools for advancing knowledge of toxicological effects and risk assessment. The purpose of this chapter is to update the evidence of pesticide immunotoxicity." @default.
