- W3195452797 abstract "Glycans are type of polysaccharides made of carbohydrate-based polymers present in all living organisms. Glycans are either homo- or heteropolymers of monosaccharide residues in linear or branched form. Glycans are essential biomolecules help as sources of energy supply system, immune function, anti-tumour, hypoglycaemic, hypolipidaemic, anti-oxidant, anti-radiation, anti-ageing anti-viral and other effects. Generally, glycans are referred as carbohydrate moiety of biologics. Plants, animals, and microbes are the rich sources of glycans. Fungal glycans are isolated from the fruiting body, spore, mycelium, or ferment liquor of fungi. The outermost surface of many bacteria is composed of glycans, which represent the first interface between mammalian hosts and microbes. Bacterial glycans can also induce immune responses that are beneficial to the bacterium, the host, or both. Commonly glycans are solely of O-glycosidic linkages of monosaccharide. For example, cellulose is a glycan (glucan) composed of β-1,4-linked D-glucose, and chitin is a glycan composed of β-1,4-linked N-acetyl-D-glucosamine." @default.
