- W3196351103 abstract "In any sport ,the process of players performance evaluation and selection in multi-player sports like cricket specially in Indian Premier League (IPL) is a complex Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problem. Selection of the players for a balanced team in most sport entity is always a subjective issue, mostly based on the decision makers/coaches/team manager/Franchises’ notions of what is needed to form the best team. Although commercialization of sports existed since several decades, IPL is also the richest sport in India just keeps getting richer. To select and evaluate best players in IPL, quantitative approaches could greatly benefit the decision makers or team management and be significantly useful. To avoid the traditionally vague and subjective practice of best players selection, quantitative approaches could provide more objective results in a shorter time-frame. To accomplish these activities of performance evaluation and optimal selection of the players, proper decisions require to be made to determine what actions need to be performed and how they are carried out so that the desired best team can be selected. As a result, Multi-Criteria Decision Making(MCDM) becomes an essential part of the problem-solving procedure. In this paper we have discussed and applied the hybridization of two well noted Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods with their classifications and characteristics. The main objective of this paper is in two phases: In First phase , for the players performance evaluation the weight of selected criteria is prioritized using most popular MCDM model “ Analytic Hierarchic Process” (AHP). In second phase, we applied the most applicable and mathematically sound MCDM model “Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution’ (TOPSIS) based on Euclidean distance measurement to select the best alternatives strategy for ranking of the players. Moreover, we have used hybrid “AHP-TOPSIS” MCDM model with a case study on IPL 2019." @default.
