All gunshot wound should be considered as a medical and surgical emergency. Their care implies a coordination of all the actors of the care chain, from the point of injury to the surgeon. This type of patient should be referred to a trauma center. We report the case of a policeman, in hemorrhagic shock, victim of a firearm abdominal injury, in a rural area of France. Rapid evacuation to a trauma center remains the main objective of prehospital care. Appropriate care, including immediate life-saving measures, must be provided to a « mobile » patient. This « en route care » strategy, is used by the French military health service for the treatment of war casualties, associated with the use of the MARCHE RYAN algorithm and the concept of damage control (damage control ground zero, damage control resuscitation and damage control surgery)." @default.
