- W3197482370 abstract "Earlier investigations have shown that the release of hydrochloric acid resulting from thermal decomposition of polyvinyl chloride was nearly complete at 300 deg. C. At this temperature, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and hydrochloric acid releases were studied during the first thirty minutes of thermal degradation, and their respective amounts among the gaseous wastes determined. Moreover a study was made of the possibilities of recovery by scrubbing the hydrochloric acid as concentrated solutions, liable to be used again. These tests show the interest of pyrolysis for the destruction of polyvinyl chloride wastes. (authors) [French] Des travaux anterieurs ont montre que le degagement d'acide chlorhydrique provenant de la decomposition thermique du chlorure de polyvinyle est quasi total a 300 deg. C. En se placant a cette temperature, on etudie les degagements de gaz carbonique, d'oxyde de carbone et d'acide chlorhydrique pendant les trente premieres minutes de la degradation thermique. On montre l'importance relative de ces gaz au sein des effluents gazeux emis. D'autre part, on etudie la possibilite de recuperer par lavage l'acide chlorhydrique sous forme de solutions concentrees; eventuellement reutilisables. Ces essais montrent l'interet de la pyrolyse pour la destruction des dechets de chlorure de polyvinyle. (auteurs)" @default.
