The inability to achieve enduring political stability could be associated with damaging effects of corruption in Nigeria; it could as well undermine the legitimacy of political leaders and public institutions, and thus incapacitated their ability to implement developmental programmes”. The data for this study was collected through the instruments of questionnaires and interview and the technique of data analysis is weighted mean score statistical technique. The study shows that, Nigerian government over the years has not shows any political will aimed at fighting corruption and enforce accountability in governance. It was also discovered that, Nigeria’s political leaders are actually not accountable to people they meant to represent and serve. Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to some extent has not done enough to fight corruption and enforce accountability in governance. Hence, preventive measures put in place by EFCC aimed at reducing corruption, bribery and public offenses in Nigeria is ineffective and need to be review. The study therefore recommends that, Nigerian government has should develop a political will to fight corruption and enforce accountability in governance. Nigeria government should develop a strong institution (EFCC) that will make political leaders accountable to people. Nigeria government should strengthen EFCC to fight corruption and enforce accountability in governance." @default.
