- W3199193620 abstract "In this article, novel approaches for the identification of synchronous generator (SG) parameters are presented. The proposed approaches are based on the usage of field current, armature current and both of them together measured during the sudden short-circuit test. The identification test method consists of fitting experimentally obtained mentioned currents waveforms with corresponding ones obtained by analytical expressions. The parameters are extracted using a novel hybrid metaheuristic algorithm developed in this article. In this way, the geometric method presented in IEEE standards, which can be inaccurate due to susceptibility to human error, is replaced with modern artificial intelligence techniques. Furthermore, unlike existing literature approaches, field and armature current expressions are not simplified and there is no neglecting of the parameters. As a result, the proposed approaches provide the determination of a larger number of parameters and more accurate fitting of analytical with experimental current waveforms. The applicability and efficiency of using proposed approaches are demonstrated on short-circuit current waveforms measured on 109.6 MVA SG from hydropower plant Bajina Basta in Serbia. The results obtained by using proposed approaches are compared with corresponding results provided by manufacturers, as well as with the results determined using literature-known methods and standardized procedures.
