- W3200477956 abstract "This book chapter presents two novel maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques for photovoltaic (PV) panels. The two corresponding techniques are a fractional-order proportional integral derivative (FOPID) controller with compensation. The second one is a fractional-order terminal sliding mode control (FOTSMC) for MPPT purposes. The first part of this study consists of evincing the dynamic model of the power electronic circuit with its pulse width modulation generator to keep the maximum power extraction of PV panels. The FOPID controller with compensation is obtained by adding an extra state to the dynamic system, representing the PV panel and the power electronics. Using the Lyapunov theorem, the compensator is obtained to keep this electrical/electronic system’s stability to maintain the power extracted from the PV panel in its maximum operation. The FOTSMC is obtained by selecting an appropriate sliding variable to keep the power setpoint in the required operating point when several conditions affect the power–voltage PV curve. The theoretical results are validated by two numerical examples and the respective discussion and conclusion of this research study." @default.
