- W3201112791 abstract "The paper sought to find out Secondary Schools Students’ Preferences of Teaching Methods in Chemistry Courses and Factors Affecting their Choice from their Perspectives” The study was limited to SS3 Chemistry students in West African People’s Institute, Calabar. The class was made up of 28 students, ages ranging from 15-21. It was a coeducational school. All the 28 Chemistry students formed the sample of this study. Descriptive analytical method was the design that was used for this study with thematic coding of open ended questionnaires. The instrument for this study was an open-ended questionnaire that had two questions. Analysis of responses received using percentages showed that 19 students making 67-86% of the respondents chose Chemistry as a subject because of their careers, 60-71% of the answer was that they will teach Chemistry by conducting practical to arouse interest in chemistry. Base on the findings of this research, it was recommended among others that practical and materials from the environment should be used in teaching Chemistry. Classroom must be activity based. Teachers should as much as possible, remove threat in the classroom. Teachers should endevour to make what they teach to make meaning to students." @default.
