- W3202114565 abstract "The within-session effects on habituation of stimulus intensity and intertrial interval (ITI) are so well known that they have assumed almost a definitional status, at least with some investigators. Longer ITIs and higher stimulus intensities are associated with slower habituation than shorter ITIs and weaker stimulus intensities. This chapter examines the long-term effects of ITI and stimulus intensity in a less complex situation, in which human Ss are habituated and rehabituated in the same condition. In order to examine the effect of the habituation conditions on retention, each S’s habituation and rehabituation trials-to-criterion scores were used to compute a percent savings score. In contrast to the trials-to-criterion scores, measures of initial basal skin conductance levels (SCL), initial spontaneous responding, and first-trial SCR magnitudes were highly correlated across trials. The correlation between the trials-to-criterion scores and the frequency of postcriterial responding was substantially higher in the experimental conditions than in the standard condition." @default.
