Merujuk pada seorang ilmuan politik Italia, Giorgio Agamben, dua akademisi Indonesia, Burhani (2014) and Sudibyo (2019) membandingkan Ahmadiyah dengan Homo Sacer dengan mengeksplorasi status liminal mereka di antara spektrum keagamaan dan kekebalan para penyerangnya terhadap hukum. Namun, tidak seperti Homo Sacer yang kerentanannya disebabkan oleh kesakralannya yang tidak menarik perhatian mayoritas secara signifikan, keberadaan Ahmadiyah di Indonesia dilihat terutama dalam beberapa dekade terakhir melalui kacamata hak asasi manusia. Advokasi berbasis inklusi sosial yang dilakukan Lakpesdam NU dan PERADI untuk mendukung hak dan eksistensi Ahmadiyah di Tasikmalaya menggambarkan kasus ini. Dengan melakukan studi lapangan lebih dari satu bulan di wilayah tersebut, penelitian ini terutama bertujuan untuk mengamati cara yang para ekskluder gunakan dalam membangun identitas liminal Ahmadiyah serta tindakan yang diambil oleh Ahmadiyah dalam rangka mengatasi liminalitasnya. Dengan menggunakan wawancara yang mendalam serta percakapan dan pengamatan pribadi, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa, pertama, proses ambigu liminalisasi yang diidentifikasi oleh Burhani dan Sudibyo terkait satu sama lain dalam arti bahwa memisahkannya hanya akan mereduksi konteks historis darinya proses tersebut dilahirkan sekaligus titik akhir yang ia tuju. Kedua, dalam upaya mengatasi proses liminalisasi tersebut, Ahmadiyah, didukung oleh sejumlah LSM lokal, menerapkan advokasi berbasis inklusi sosial untuk mengklaim kembali hak-hak sipil mereka dengan menggabungkan advokasi berbasis kepentingan dan hak yang hasil utamanya berkisar pada tiga titik yang masing-masing saling berkaitan; keterlibatan, penerimaan dan pemberdayaan.Citizenship is among the notions mostly contested after the collapse of long-standing authoritarian regime in 1998 that radically transformed Indonesia into a democratic country and brought many other issues including minority issue into forefront. Since then, the status of Ahmadiyya as one of Islamic minority group is publicly questioned both politically and theologically. Referring to Italian political scientist, Giorgio Agamben, two Indonesian prominent scholars, Burhani (2014) and Sudibyo (2019) placed Ahmadiyya and Homo Sacer on a par suggesting their liminal status amid religious spectrums and the immunity of their attackers to legal charges. However, unlike Homo Sacer whose vulnerability due to its sacredness did not significantly attract majority attention, the existence of Ahmadiyya in Indonesia is viewed particularly in recent decades through human rights landscape. A social inclusion-based advocacy carried out by LAKPESDAM NU and PERADI in Tasikmalaya in support of Ahmadis rights and existence exemplify the case. By conducting a more than one-month field observation in the region, this research mainly aims to observe the way the excluders exhibit in constructing the liminal identity of Ahmadiyya as well as the counter-act the later performs in purpose of talking its liminality. Using in-depth interview and personal conversation and observation, this research found that, first, the ambiguous processes of liminalization identified by both Burhani and Sudibyo are interwoven to each other in a sense that detaching them will only reduce the historical context from which it appeared and the final point it headed for. Second, in attempt of countering the liminalization, Ahmadis, advocated by several local NGOs, applies social inclusion advocacy to re-claim their civil rights by combining both interest-based and right-based advocacy whose main outcomes revolve around three circulated junctures respectively; engagement, acceptance and empowerment." @default.
