- W3202581024 abstract "Meta-memory plays an important role in the adolescent period. The adolescent period is a complex transition of psychosocial memory development [10]. “The term metamemory was introduced by Flavell and it refers to a type of metacognition, meaning the knowledge and awareness of an individual's memory, including the contents and processes of their memory system” [9]. Metamemory is defined as “individual's knowledge of and awareness of memory” [7]. The study emphasizes on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). ESD was employed to develop knowledge, skills, standards, and attitudes to progress and provide sustainable growth in the education field [16]. Application-based EFL learning will develop the ESD and language proficiency among learners [1]. The study develops an android application to develop metamemory and reading skills through cognitive language therapy among first-year adolescent learners with psychosomatic condition. The psychosomatic condition will lead to memory disabilities and cognitive dysfunctions [15]. Due to cognitive disability, their language skills are relatively poor. The cognitive activities in the application aim to develop memory, meta-memory, and language skill. The main challenge of the investigation, lies in creating cognitive therapy language activities, which specifically improve memory among learners with psychosomatic conditions. Many studies were conducted in analysing the metamemory in psychology and medical fields. The metacognitive study was attempted in the Spanish language [14], whereas very few studies were attempted in analysing and developing metamemory in English language learning contexts. Cognitive language therapy was employed as psychotherapy and in developing cognition [3], whereas few studies were attempted in developing English language skills using cognitive therapy among learners with the psychosomatic condition. The vision of the work is to create a free android application that aims to develop reading skill and metamemory among English language learners with psychosomatic condition through cognitive therapy. Cognitive therapy will develop users’ memory, reading skills, language learning engagement, which will lead to overall academic achievement. The research intends to disclose the application among social platforms to develop reading skills and language functions among people with memory dysfunction and psychosomatic disorder. The hypothesis of the inquiry is to investigate the significant difference in the participant’s reading skills due to the English language-based cognitive therapy and participant’s metamemory after the intervention of the English language activities in the application. The objective is to improve and develop reading skills among adolescent learners through cognitive therapy and to examine the metamemory among the participants with the psychosomatic condition. Jeongsim Kim [11] conducted a cohort study, where he provides MMT (Metamemory Training) to older adults with cognitive impairment. Chi and Chua [2] affirm that greater memory and attention in an individual show a better metamemory and cognitive performance. The participants will be adolescent first-year college students. The research will be carried out for Eight weeks. Data collection tools like questionnaires, interviews, and feedback will be used to collect data from the participants. The pre-test will be conducted to the participants in the application to analyse their metamemory and reading skills. Post-test will be conducted in the eighth week to investigate the advancement in learners’ reading skills and metamemory. The results will be quantitatively analysed. The expected outcome of the study is, English language-based cognitive therapy activities in the application will improve the reading skill, among adolescent learners with the psychosomatic condition." @default.
