- W3202691230 abstract "The rapid emergence of wind energy conversion systems (WECS), in particular the doubly fed induction generator-based wind energy conversion system (DFIG-WECS), means that control of such machines needs to be optimized to allow for acceptable power to be injected into the grid. This paper provides an investigation into the suitability of model predictive control applied to the control of the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS-MPC) is rapidly gaining attention in the control of electric drives, which can be attributed to its simple structure. This paper analyses the response of FCS-MPC applied to the control of the DFIG. Model predictive current control was implemented, meaning that the control of the DFIG was based on control of the rotor current. The response of the control algorithm was evaluated in terms of steady state ripple, dynamic response, and quality of stator currents. The results obtained were compared to the Field Oriented Control (FOC) method and proved to be superior in terms of steady state ripple and dynamic response." @default.
