- W3203399287 abstract "Cellulose is a biopolymer with remarkable properties and has a large recurring production cycle. The rapidly increasing world population and need of cloth per capita have driven efforts toward the production of new innovative fibrous materials for various end-use applications. Polymers synthesized from man-made monomers have garnered sizeable research interest in recent decades. The significance of different natural fibers, which have been intermingled with humans for centuries to fulfill the fundamental requirement of clothing, has been remarkably suppressed with the adoption of synthetic fibers in the 20th century. Nowadays, polyester, a common synthetic, has gained the position of the most desired fiber and has surpassed cotton, the most popular natural fiber. However, the increasing environmental threats and exhaustion of fossil resources have restated the importance of natural fibers. Various researchers and industries are using sustainable fibers instead of conventional synthetic fibers in product development. In addition to competent mechanical and physical properties, specific modulus, low density, and toughness of natural fibers, low cost, recyclability, and nontoxicity are the noteworthy attributes of natural fibers. Furthermore, these features offer the opportunity to use natural fibers in reinforced composite product manufacturing. Owing to the potential to engineer in the desired direction and extent, synthetic fibers have found their place in various industries." @default.
