- W3203452014 abstract "The study was to assess the Effectiveness of Induction Training on EmployeesPerformance in Public Universities. The respondents of the study were selected stafffrom the Open University of Tanzania (OUT). The study intended to examine howthe induction training offered to the new employees by the OUT facilitatestheoretical knowledge. The study design was explanatory case study usingqualitative data collected through interviews from the OUT employees andmanagement. The study revealed that most of the respondents were satisfied with theinduction training offered at the Open University of Tanzania. It was revealed that 8respondents from the subordinate staff were satisfied with the induction training andonly 2 staffs were not highly satisfied with the induction training attended. The studyfurther revealed that the induction training offered by OUT facilitates theoretical andpractical knowledge as well as integration through the socialization process. It wasalso revealed some of the respondents were aware of the induction training policywhile others including some of the heads of departments were not clear enough ofthe policy. The study concluded that induction training is of great value to theUniversity because it serves to inform new staff of the important aspects in their newworking environment. The study recommends that for the University to have aperfect and most effective induction training the top management should provideenough support and exert their power to it, reasonable and realistic budget should beallocated, there should be a continuous follow-up to get feedback from the trainees,the time for orientation training should be enough so as to allow the programme tocover all aspects and the trainees should be encouraged to be serious and concentrateto the training sessions so as to enable them grasp everything taught." @default.
