- W3203880821 abstract "Wheat is the premier food crop worldwide. It is grown in a diverse climate. Phytopathogenic diseases are biotic constraints to its production. Biological control is an established method for plant disease management. It refers to the suppression of phytopathogens by beneficial organisms and their metabolites. However, one of the factors that obstruct the large-scale application of biocontrol is the lack of efficient, commercially available biocontrol agents (BCAs). The identification of novel BCAs, determining their modes, and mechanism of action is a critical step in the success of commercial biocontrol products. A robust screening of suitable candidates is required to develop potential BCAs. In this chapter, we present an overview of well-known wheat diseases and their biological control. Moreover, we also reviewed status of commercially available BCAs and summarize research of organizations working in the area of plant disease management." @default.
