A luminescent Co (II)-based coordination polymer [Co 2 (bta)(ppda)(H 2 O) 2 ] n ( 1 ) (H 4 bta = 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid and ppda = p -phenylenediamine) was synthesised by hydrothermal method and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, which is the first three-dimensional (3D) coordination polymer constructed from ppda and Co 2+ ions. Furthermore, fluorescence studies indicated that 1 displays high sensitivity for both nitroaromatic complexes and Fe 3+ ions via fluorescence quenching effect." @default.
