- W3204041864 abstract "Abstract Recently, many nanoscale delivery systems (NDS) such as amphiphilic polymer-based nano-micelles, (APNMCs), nano-liposomes, nano-dendrimers, and inorganic nanoparticles/quantum dots are developed either with surface-conjugated or encapsulated pharmacological chemotherapeutic drugs (pCHDs) for effective chemotherapeutic cancer treatments. NDS along with their intrinsic properties including size, morphology, composition, and surface nature are used in modifying the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) characteristics of the pCHDs and also in governing the following pharmacological phenomena such as (1) the drive from the administration point to the targeted organs/tissues through systemic circulation, (2) escape from the reticuloendothelial system (RES)/opsonization (protein binding), and (3) from the bioavailability and retention of the pCHDs (within the intracellular environment) till the end of chemotherapeutics (with focus on subcellular targets) by overcoming the interferences in organs/tissues/cells. Regardless of much advancement, the number of NDS approved by the food and drug administration (FDA) is very low. Hence, more focus should be given to improve the clinical translation of the currently developed NDS by minimizing their unexpected in vivo toxicity and enhancing biocompatibility/biodegradability to achieve better cancer therapeutics." @default.
