- W3204404994 abstract "Abstract Bioinspired nanocomposites have received significant research interest nowadays. Protein-based nanocomposite is one of the prominent bioinspired materials formed with the combinations of protein and nanomaterials. Silk protein obtained from silkworms and spider silk is one of the strong and complex self-assembled natural biomaterials. However, silk (both sericin and fibroin) could be designed, fabricated, synthesized, and characterized with polymeric nanoparticle (NP) with feasible interactions to apply for suitable applications in biomedical and biotechnology field for their excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability features. Besides, silk materials also exist oxygen permeable property and the degraded products could easily be absorbed by the body with the lowest inflammatory reactivity. On the other hand, silk fibroin/sericin membranes could be incorporated with silica along with silsesquioxane core/nanoplatelets clay which may provide enhanced mechanical properties. The silk protein nanocomposites could also exhibit wonderful optical transparency in a visible spectrum wavelength through providing economical, nontoxic, and environment friendly biomaterials." @default.
