- W3204641611 abstract "The glacial headwaters of the Noguera Pallaresa and the Valira retain the features of the high Pyrenean mountains, namely rounded glacial landforms, such as wide compound cirques, transfluence and glacial diffluence cols, and large overdeepened basins in the main valleys. The Central-Eastern Pyrenees were home to six large glacial collectors with lengths of over 20 km, some of which came to converge during phases of maximum extent, forming two complex glacial systems, those of the Pallaresa and the Valira. The lengths of these systems exceeded 60 and 43 km respectively, and their thicknesses reached 400–600 m. The documentation on the glacial chronologies of the two basins is very disparate. The Valira (Andorra) has an excellent chronology based on the sedimentological studies of the La Massana Basin and the terminal complexes of the palaeoglacier, including deposits belonging to ancient glaciations and numerous absolute dates using different techniques (radiocarbon, optically stimulated luminescence, and cosmic-ray exposure dating). A few absolute datings are available for the Noguera Pallaresa, and this study updates its chronology of glacial phases from the review of the available information and correlation with data from the Valira and Garonne Glacier (Val d'Aran), which was connected to the Pallaresa Glacier." @default.
