- W3204643933 abstract "The delay-tolerant networks (DTNs) are mainly characterized by decentralized and self-managed structures possessing unique features and characteristics. However, limited network resources and buffer space, bandwidth issues, high mobility nodes and disconnected paths are the characteristics that lead to network vulnerabilities and potential threats. These malicious attacks by compromised nodes in DTN systems can interrupt and degrade the normal functioning of the routing protocols in the network, thereby resulting in delivery interruption due to the possibility of dropping the delivered messages by the selfish or malicious nodes which can further lead to performance degradation, compromising with message confidentiality and integrity, denial of service (DoS) attacks, etc. A variety of security attacks, namely packet dropping attack, flooding attack, gray hole attack, worm hole attack, black hole attack, etc., affect the network connectivity, thereby increasing the delay in the message delivery rate. Thus, the effective mechanisms need to be identified and implemented to eliminate the different types of vulnerability attacks before implementing anything in DTN. This paper mainly addresses the areas of identifying the different types of routing attacks as well as some open issues in order to establish a reliable and secure DTN in the future." @default.
