El final de esta secuencia coincide con los primeros tsunamis historicos de la region (218-209 a.C) y el inicio de una fase de progradacion costera. Un evento erosivo posterior y una subsecuente invasion marina ocasionaron la exposicion y colonizacion de las arcillas basales por bivalvos perforantes Barnea candida. Este sector de la playa habria permanecido invadido por el mar durante al menos 4 anos de acuerdo con la longitud y densidad de aparicion de las perforaciones de los ejemplares de B. candida. Una ultima fase de progradacion litoral produjo que estos depositos fuesen cubiertos por facies arenosas de playa hasta su exposicion reciente por accion de las tormentas invernales. EnglishThe multidisciplinary analysis of a peaty coastal outcrop located in the western coast of Donana National Park (Southeastern Spain) has allowed the reconstruction of palaeoenvironmental changes during the Late Holocene, with an initial transition from brackish marsh to freshwater lagoon together with a climatic cooling recorded by the appearance of steppe vegetation, and a subsequent evolution to a peatland by the absence of drainage due to the closure of marine connection. The end of this sequence coincides with the first historical tsunami studied in the region (218-209 BC), and the beginning of a new coastal progradation phase. A later erosive event and the subsequent marine invasion led the colonization of the exposed basal clay by boring bivalves Barnea candida. This coastal sector would have been submerged for at least 4 year according to the length and occurrence density of the B. candida perforations. During a final stage of coastal progradation these deposits were covered by sandy beach facies until its recent exposure due to the action of winter storms." @default.
