- W3205977078 abstract "To investigate 1. the association between pre-labour fetal heart rate short-term variability (STV) determined by computerised cardiotocography (cCTG) and maternal-fetal Dopplers with arterial cord blood pH and 2. The potential value of pre-labour maternal-fetal Dopplers, STV and Dawes-Redman criteria in predicting labour outcomes. A prospective study in 380 women with term singleton pregnancy in latent phase of labour or prior to labour induction. Maternal characteristics, labour information, fetal biometry, maternal-fetal Dopplers indices and cCTG findings were collected and analysed to determine which factors were associated with arterial cord blood pH, emergency delivery due to pathological CTG and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)/special care baby unit (SCBU) admission. Of the 380 cases, 29 (7.6%) women undergone emergency delivery for pathological CTG. A total of 74 (19.5%) babies required NICU/SCBU admission. Arterial cord blood pH was associated with log10 STV (r = 0.103, p = 0.047). Multivariate linear regression analysis demonstrated that significant independent predictors for arterial cord blood pH were log10 STV (p = 0.01), smoking (p < 0.001), and labour induction due to spontaneous rupture of membranes (p = 0.02) but not maternal characteristics and Doppler indices. None of these factors was predictive for emergency delivery due to pathological CTG; however, estimated fetal weight z-score and not meeting Dawes-Redman criteria were associated with an increased risk of NICU/SCBU admission. In unselected women admitted in latent phase of labour or for induction of labour at term, STV is associated with arterial cord blood pH but not predictive of emergency delivery due to pathological CTG. Not meeting Dawes-Redman criteria in cCTG increases the risk of NICU/SCBU admission." @default.
