- W3206435092 abstract "The most complex community biologically is the soil environment, and the organisms present in soil are extremely diverse. They also contribute to a wide range of functions which are essential for sustainable functioning of both managed and natural ecosystems. The land productivity is affected by soil organisms in both direct and indirect ways. The direct effects involve crop yield alterations, whereas indirect effects involve carbon and nitrogen cycle, modification in soil structure, productivity followed by food web interactions. The soil is capable of producing agronomic, economic services along with environmental maintenance. Key indicators of soil health, similar to that of soil quality, are soil structure, soil organic carbon concentration and quality, water retention and intake rate, and soil biodiversity. However, these properties must be maintained and enhanced above threshold level to sustain soil health and productivity." @default.
