- W3208233676 abstract "The influence of unfavorable environmental factors, human production activity features and deficiencies of the medical care organization in Russian region clinics largely predetermine the rate of progression of aggressive tumor - bladder cancer, or urothelial carcinoma (UC). The materials of foreign and domestic publications about the influence of environmental factors and the living conditions in rural areas on progression of UC have been studied, taking into consideration the features of the organization of screening in the population of small towns and villages. The unsatisfactory quality of drinking water, the presence of harmful impurities in the air in conjunction with industrial harmful components of the air and soil, as well as smoking promote the development of bladder carcinomas. The remoteness from the cities as well as the insufficient equipment in clinics located in rural areas reduce the efficiency of early diagnostics of bladder cancer. The results of the UC screening in the Leningrad region, carried out in 2002-2005, demonstrate the advantages of organizing a similar method in other regions of Russia. The organization of sanitary-hygienic activities among the rural population in order to timely verification of bladder cancer appears to be insufficient." @default.
