A detailed discussion is given of the numerical analysis of device characteristics based on a self-consistent drift-diffusion model, for which the carrier dynamics, with a particular emphasis on the two-step inter-sub-band photo-absorption (TSPA), and recombination processes are taken into consideration. The current status of the fabrication and performance of high-density In(Ga)As QD solar cells grown using self-organised epitaxy is discussed. Further, maximising TSPA processes via QDs is of paramount importance in a successful implementation of high-efficiency IBSCs and Fourier transform infrared photocurrent spectroscopy provides a powerful tool to study the IR photocurrent response via TSPA in In(Ga)As QDSCs." @default.
