- W3209160714 abstract "The research method which used in this research was class action research. The subject of this research was the students of class V-B of SDN 031 Tarakan academic year 2014/2015 consisting of 23 students as the sample. The action research was conducted from October to November 2014. The research was conducted in two cycles, starting from planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The researcher used observation sheets, to take information of the teacher and students’ activities in the classroom and reading test was designed by researcher based on the instructional material to know the students reading achievement. In this research, the researcher taught the class V-B of SDN 031 Tarakan. She taught reading descriptive text by using card sort method. Meanwhile, the teacher acted as an observer. He observed whole of teacher and students’ activities during teaching learning process. The findings of this research showed that the result of observation for teacher and students’ activity has good category and card sort method had been stimulate the students’ enthusiasm, activities and confident during teaching and learning process. Based on the result of reading test in the first cycle was found that 12 or 52% students achieved the minimum passing criterion, then improved in the second cycle to 18 or 78% students achieved the minimum passing criterion. So, it could be concluded that the students’ achievement on reading descriptive text through card sort method improved. Based on the finding, it can be summed up that card sort method can improve students’ achievement on reading descriptive text and the students’. It is suggested to the English teachers to use card sort as a method in teaching process. Furthermore, the use of card sort method especially in the teaching reading descriptive text is very useful to the students to improve their reading achievement. It also suggested for the further researchers to apply this method to improve students’ achievement on reading descriptive text. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek pada penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas V-B SDN 031 Tarakan tahun ajaran 2014/2015 yang terdiri dari 23 siswa sebagai sampelnya.Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan pada bulan Oktober sampai bulan November 2014. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus mulai dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Peneliti menggunakan lembarpengamatan untuk mengambil data dari aktivitas guru dan siswa dikelas dan tes membaca yang telah disiapkan oleh peneliti berdasarkan materi pembelajaran untuk mengetahui prestasi membaca siswa. Di dalam penelitian ini, peneliti yang mengajar siswa kelas V-B di SDN 031 Tarakan. Dia mengajarkan membaca teks deskriptif dengan menggunakan metode sortir kartu. Sementara guru bertindak sebagai pengamat. Beliau mengamati seluruh kegiatan guru dan siswa-siswi di dalam kelas. Penemuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil dari pengamatan aktivitas guru dan siswa dalam kategori baik dan metode sortir kartu mempengaruhi antusias, aktivitas, dan kepercayaan diri siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil tes membaca siswa pada siklus pertama ada 12 atau 52% siswa mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal kemudian pada siklus kedua meningkat menjadi 18 atau 78% siswa mencapai kriteria ketuntasan minimal. Jadi bisa disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam membaca teks deskriptif melalui metode sortir kartu meningkat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode sortir kartu dapat meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam membaca teks deskriptif. Berdasarkan hal tersebut disarankan kepada guru bahasa Inggris untuk menggunakan metode sortir kartu sebagai metode dalam proses pembelajaran. Penggunaan sortir kartu khususnya dalam pembelajaran membaca teks deskriptif berguna untuk meningkatkan prestasi membaca siswa. Untuk peneliti selanjutnya disarankan juga agar dapat menggunakan metode ini untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa dalam membaca teks deskriptif." @default.
