- W3209702414 abstract "Film is human expression that reflects the human thinking, act, behavior, lifestyle, and anything related to human kind which becomes a history with all the meaning inside it. Film is also a media of communication and education which represents the situation and condition of human life such as in “Social Network” film. This film tells about the story of a successful young billionaire, the creator of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg who is just an ordinary student in Harvard University but is smart-witted. Therefore, the writer is interested in analyzing his conflict in this film.In this thesis, the writer is interested in analyzing the social conflict faced by main character in “Social Network” film. In detail, the purposes of this study are (1) to describe social conflicts faced by Mark Zuckerberg as the main character in “Social Network” film, (2) to investigate the causes of social conflicts faced by Mark Zuckerberg in “Social Network” film, and (3) to explain the effects of social conflicts toward on his life.This study used descriptive qualitative method. The writer used objective approach in doing the analysis because the writer did not need to study the author’s life. The object of this study was the film entitled Social Network. In this study, the writer tried to analyzed Mark Zuckerberg’s social conflicts. The data were obtained from some dialogues that were related to Mark’s social conflicts.The result of this study showed that the social conflicts found in “Social Network” film were: (1) Quarreling between Mark and his girl friend, Erica, (2) Scrambling of power between Mark and Exclusive Harvard Final Club, (3) Confrontation between Mark and Harvard Academic Board, (4) Quarreling between Mark and his best friend, Eduardo. The causes of social conflicts found in this film were categorized into three kinds, (1) Communication breakdown, (2) strategic/operational disagreement, and (3) Goal differences. Meanwhile, in “Social Network” film the conflicts that were faced by Mark Zuckerberg gave positive and negative effects toward his life. The positive effects are supporting individually, identification problem, and the negative effect is the increase of hostility and resentment.For the further researcher, it will be better if this research is developed, because this film has many interesting parts that can be analyzed. The further researchers can continue this thesis by analyzing such as friendship, greed and other interesting topics to be discussed in this film." @default.
