• W3210344412 abstract "Resumen Se determino la composicion y la abundancia relativa de la avifauna de un bosque seco tropical intervenido en el Municipio Mara, estado Zulia, Venezuela. La investigacion se realizo en la hacienda Los Pozones al noroeste del estado. Se empleo el metodo de conteos por puntos establecidos en cuatro unidades ecologicas: 1.- matorral espinoso (ME), 2.- bosque ribereno (BR), 3.- areas intervenidas (AI) y 4.- cuerpos de aguas (CA). El inventario y conteo de las aves se realizaron durante 7 muestreos (de un dia de duracion cada uno y realizados una vez al mes) durante el periodo febrero-septiembre de 2011 (excepto abril). Se registro un total de 3.143 individuos, estableciendo la composicion de aves en 89 especies, 78 generos y 35 familias. Las mayores abundancias de individuos se registraron en los meses de agosto (30,31%) y septiembre (22,69%). Las aves acuaticas presentaron la mayor abundancia relativa (52,71%) siendo las especies mas abundantes: Jacana jacana (22,40%), Spiza americana (9,55%), Bubulcus ibis (8,85%), Riparia riparia (6,46%) y Phimosus infuscatus (6,14%). Desde otro punto de vista, el gremio trofico de mayor representatividad fue el insectivoro, sin embargo, el subgrupo piscivoro-insectivoro mostro mayores valores de abundancia. A pesar de la heterogeneidad espacial y fragmentacion del area, la hacienda los Pozones albergo un importante numero de aves, indicando la importancia de los sitios agroproductivos como zonas de resguardo para la conservacion de la comunidad de aves en la region.Abstract The composition and relative abundance of the avifauna of a tropical dry forest intervened in the Mara Municipality, Zulia state, Venezuela was determined. The investigation was carried out at the Los Pozones ranch northwest of the state. The method of point counts established in four ecological units was used: 1.- Thorn scrub (ME), 2.- Riverine forest(BR), 3.- Intervened areas (AI) and 4.- Water bodies(CA). Bird inventory and counting were conducted for 7 samplings (one day each and made once a month) during the period February-September 2011 (except April). A total of 3,143 individuals were recorded, establishing the composition of birds in 89 species, 78 genera and 35 families. The largest abundances of individuals were recorded in the months of August (30.31%) and September (22.69%). Aquatic birds had the highest relative abundance (52.71%) being the most abundant species: Jacana jacana (22.40%), Spiza americana (9.55%), Bubulcus ibis (8.85%), Riparia riparia (6.46%) and Phimosus infuscatus (6.14%). From another point of view, the trophic guild of greater representativeness was the insectivorous, however, the piscivorous-insectivorous subgroup showed higher abundance values. In spite of the spatial heterogeneity and fragmentation of the area, the Los Pozones hacienda housed an important number of birds, indicating the importance of agroproductive sites as shelters for the conservation of the bird community in the region." @default.
