- W3211048474 abstract "Abstract Copper hexacyanoferrate (CuHCF) has found widespread uses in ions removal [2], biosensors [3], and energy storages. [4] CuHCF has an open framework hexacyanometalate structure. This structure allows the insertion of potassium and other hydrated ions in aqueous electrolytes.[1] However, the effects of synthesizing conditions on the crystal structures and electrochemical properties of CuHCF have not been investigated. In this work, we studied the effects of various parameters such as concentration ratios, temperature, sonication time, etc. on the resulting crystal structures of CuHCF and their voltammetric responses. CuHCFs were synthesized by chemical co-precipitation of CuSO4 and ferricyanide or ferrocyanide at varied ratios of Cu2+/Fe2+/3+. The ratio of metallic components was determined by an inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectrometer. The stability of CuHCF and the amount of water in the samples were determined by Thermogravimetric Analysis. The morphology and the crystallinity of all CuHCF were investigated by scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction, respectively. The oxidation states of the elements in the structure and chemical coordination environment were studied by XANES and EXAFS at Fe K-edge and Cu K-edge. Cyclic voltammetry was further used to study the synthesizing conditions that affect the electrochemical behaviors of CuHCF-modified electrodes in 0.10 M KCl and 0.10 M K2SO4 aqueous solutions. All of the above revealed new information on the effects of synthesis conditions on the structures and voltammetric responses of CuHCF. The insights are highly useful for the development of CuHCF as an electrode material for energy storage as well as sensing applications.Fig.1.
