- W3215506096 abstract "More electric aircraft (MEA) is getting popular as it offers higher efficiency, and high-power density compared to conventional aircrafts. Design of a power electronics converter for such applications involves optimization amongst various contesting areas and variables, thereby emphasizing a thorough design approach. This paper presents a novel model-based optimization (MBO) strategy aiming to locate the optimal design space of inverter to reach both high efficiency and high-power density, at a given geometrical space, thermal limit, harmonics requirements and semiconductor cost. Guided by proposed algorithm, a 450-kVA three-phase full SiC-MOSFET based inverter is designed, and tested, with peak efficiency of 99.45%, and power density of 27.33 kW/kg. The performance predicted by proposed MBO shows close match to the practical results, thereby providing a good framework to future high-performance inverter design." @default.
