- W3216428732 abstract "An electrohydrodynamic (EHD) gas pump inside a square channel is experimentally evaluated for its effectiveness in flow delivery. The gas pump with three sets of electrode assemblies (separately with one, three, and seven emitting electrodes) is powered by DC voltages ranging from 24 to 30 kV. The emitting electrodes are flush mounted on two channel walls parallel to each other. The main objective is to investigate the number of emitting electrodes as well as their location on the performance of the pump. The performance of the pump is evaluated using the parameter of power efficiency, which is defined as the volume flow rate delivered by a unit power input. Whereas the EHD gas pump with all three configurations produces a power efficiency that is comparable to or higher than that of conventional fans, the one with three emitting electrodes has the highest values of all. This indicates that an EHD gas pump has a great potential for applications in thermal management and can be more energy-efficient when compared with conventional fans." @default.
